Orientation Information
(Information
taken from "Getting Your Girl Scout Bearing",
A
council publication, updated 2005)
Welcome to Girl Scouting! Volunteers are the lifeblood
of our organization and we want to welcome you. We recognize that your time is precious so the time you give to us and
your girls is doubly valuable. We need you and we want you to know how important you are to us.
The orientation process will give
you some basic information about the Girl Scout Movement and help you get started with your troop or group. Your acceptance
of an adult volunteer position in our council indicates your commitment to helping girls grow up to be caring, competent,
confident women. Girl Scout leadership should be a time of fun and learning for you personally as well as for the girls
you serve. Many volunteers and staff are ready to help and support you as you begin your job.
You have three options for Orientation
Training:
1. Face to Face small group
1.5 hour training at a location that is convenient for you.
2. Online one hour interactive
training at the Council website, or follow this link http://www.girlscoutscv.org/volunteers/training/Intro_Orient/. Please note this option is not recommended if you have dial up internet access.
3. CD Rom Training, identical
to the on-line version available through our service unit.
After completing your orientation training we will meet with you to provide you with your
troop number, handbooks, and tools to help get you started. You will be introduced to the history, organizational structure,
goals and responsibilities of Girl Scout leadership.
Please utilize one of the "contact us" links if you have further orientation questions.
